Offending Oil Tanker Catches Fire East of the Strait of Hormuz
TEHRAN (Defapress) - Earlier today, the vessel was identified by Iranian Army Navy monitoring teams after it had suffered damage and a fire while attempting to traverse the waters east of the Strait of Hormuz; the tanker had been navigating the area with its tracking systems turned off and was attempting to pass through a restricted zone.
The Islamic Republic of Iran Navy announced that, through a new deployment of operational units east of the Strait of Hormuz and across the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman, it maintains full situational awareness and conducts constant, real-time monitoring of all hostile activities and vessel traffic. The Iranian Army Navy strongly advises all vessels to comply with international regulations by refraining from deactivating their electronic equipment and to coordinate with the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran to ensure safe passage.
