Gaza in Humanitarian Crisis: Call to Dismantle Trump's Board of Peace
TEHRAN (Defapress) - Rami Abdu, Chairman of the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, called for an immediate end to the activities of, and the withdrawal of support for, the Board of Peace, stating that the council has failed to secure a lasting ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and improve the humanitarian conditions of civilians. This demand comes as the humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, with hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians facing severe hardship following heavy rainfall and widespread flooding.

According to estimates by charitable and humanitarian organizations operating in Gaza, approximately 70,000 tents housing displaced individuals have been submerged or damaged, leaving many families without basic protection against adverse weather or adequate shelter. Relief agencies warned of serious health and environmental risks arising from rainwater mixing with sewage, alongside an increased risk of collapse for structures previously damaged by bombardments.
In response to the escalating crisis, humanitarian organizations urged the immediate reopening of border crossings to allow the entry of caravans, tents, shelter supplies, and heavy machinery required for urgent relief efforts. These developments coincide with ongoing restrictions on the delivery of humanitarian aid and shelter materials, which have intensified the displacement crisis and prevented the provision of safe shelter for those affected.
Meanwhile, international calls have grown for the parties backing the agreement to take responsibility, protect civilians, and improve living conditions in Gaza. The Board of Peace framework was initially established as part of Donald Trump's 20-point proposal to end the war in Gaza in October 2025 and was subsequently endorsed by the UN Security Council through Resolution 2803 in November of the same year, though rights groups maintain it has failed to alleviate civilian suffering.
