TEHRAN (Defapress) - Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, said today (Tuesday) at the conference "Unilateral Sanctions, Access to Justice at the National, Regional and International Levels": We believe that unilateral punitive measures, which are often introduced as diplomatic tools, are not only contrary to the Charter of International Law but also act contrary to accepted global norms.
Gharibabadi added: "Such sanctions, although they claim to be applied in line with political and security goals, in fact, destroy the national economies of countries and cause irreparable damage to people's livelihoods."
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Legal and International Affairs added: "The widespread, irrational, and unauthorized use of these tools leads to the weakening of vital sectors, including healthcare, in the targeted countries, and deprives people of fundamental rights, such as the "right to life" and the "right to enjoy a healthy life."
Gharibabadi emphasized: "These sanctions, especially in the form of the so-called "maximum pressure" policy, have created serious restrictions on access to vital medical equipment and medicines, such that many cancer patients and those with chronic diseases have been deprived of appropriate treatment."
