TEHRAN (Defapress) - Abbas Moghtadaei, Deputy Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, in an interview with Defapress correspondent, pointed to the extensive achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran in various scientific and technological fields, stating: "The progress of the Iranian nation in recent years has been evident not only in the realm of politics and domestic governance but also in attaining various technologies, including in medical sciences, healthcare, agriculture, energy production, and other fields."
He added: "Currently, Iran has achieved remarkable progress in rail transportation, the production of defense equipment such as missiles, as well as in the construction of ships, destroyers, and frigates. All these achievements have been realized based on the country's scientific and technical foundations and through relying on young, knowledgeable, and progressive scientists and specialists."
Moghtadaei, referring to Western efforts to hinder Iran's progress, emphasized: "Today, the West is attempting to halt the advancement of Iran's technologies, one of the most prominent of which is the Islamic Republic of Iran's superiority in the field of nuclear energy, particularly the fuel cycle and enrichment. If the Americans and Europeans raise the issue of stopping enrichment, this demonstrates their deceit and double standards, which are evident behind such demands."
Stressing that they do not want Iran to thrive, he noted: "We have also benefited from the spillover effects of nuclear energy advancements in other scientific and technological fields. In other words, when you make progress in nuclear energy, aerospace, medicine, and healthcare, it means that fundamental sciences such as physics, mathematics, chemistry, life sciences, astronomy, and other fields are also developing. Indeed, these are factors that can propel a nation and its scientists toward more accelerated progress."
The Deputy Chairman of the National Security Committee stressed: "In negotiations, what we prioritize is securing the interests of the Iranian nation, and we will act accordingly. Therefore, the goal of negotiations is nothing other than securing the interests of the Iranian people, and anything that disregards these interests will certainly not be accepted."
He further stated: "The Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently demonstrated that it possesses indigenous capacities and endogenous capabilities to meet its strategic needs. Our historical experience in facing sanctions and external pressures has proven that the Iranian nation not only does not retreat but pursues the path of progress and independence with even stronger resolve. Today, enrichment is a symbol of our scientific and technical independence and will by no means be negotiable or subject to cessation."
Moghtadaei also pointed out: "Those who seek to undermine Iran's peaceful nuclear capabilities should know that the Iranian nation will not turn back from this path. Relying on our elites, hardworking youth, and confidence in domestic capacities, we have bright horizons ahead, and this technology is the undeniable right of the Iranian people. Therefore, any negotiations will only succeed if the opposing parties recognize the legitimate rights of the Iranian nation, including the right to enrichment and the development of new technologies."
