2 Firefighters Killed Suspiciously in Idaho

TEHRAN (Defapress) - 2 firefighters were killed in a deadly ambush while fighting a small fire in the Canfield Mountains near Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department. According to the report, a gunman attacked the firefighters, killing two and wounding one.

US authorities believe that the fire was deliberately started to draw firefighters to the scene. In this regard, Sheriff Norris said in a statement: "We believe that this fire was deliberately started and this was a well-planned ambush." After several hours of searching with the participation of about 300 police officers from local, state, and federal agencies, SWAT teams found a dead man with a firearm near the scene of the incident on Mount Canfield.

According to this report, as the media covered the news and reports surrounding the incident, American authorities believe that the man, whose identity has not yet been officially confirmed, was the sole attacker in the terrorist attack.

Following the attack, a shelter-in-place order was issued for all residents of the area around Mount Canfield, which was later lifted on Sunday evening. However, the fire, which had spread to about 20 hectares, still remains and officials warned residents to be prepared for possible further actions.

The investigation into the motive for the attack and its further details is still ongoing. Also, American authorities announced that due to the ongoing fire, a detailed examination of the crime scene has been postponed until the fire danger has decreased.
