Iran & Iraq discuss major border issues

Brigadier General Qasem Rezaei and his Iraqi counterpart Colonel Hussein Mahmoud Al Awadhi exchanged views on the latest security developments in the two neighboring states' border areas during their fourth joint meeting.

Ways to increase border control measures and promotion of border security cooperation were among main topics discussed in the meeting.

The two officials also reviewed visits to both Iranian and Iraqi holy sites.

Brigadier General Qasemi is currently in Iraq on a two-day visit heading a military delegation which includes a number of governors from Iran's border provinces.

The visiting Iranian delegation is also to hold talks with Iraq's Interior Minister Khaled al-Obaidi.
