CENTCOM confirms YAF missile attack on US destroyer

TEHRAN (Defapress) - The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed early Monday that the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a series of attacks on American warships and vessels over the weekend. These strikes were described as a response to U.S. and British actions in Yemen and support for Israeli policies. 

In its official statement, CENTCOM reported that the YAF deployed 3 ballistic missiles, 3 drones, and a cruise missile in attacks targeting 2 U.S. destroyers and other vessels flying American flags on Saturday and Sunday.

Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, announced Sunday at 9:15 PM local time in Sanaa that an American destroyer and 3 supply ships were struck using a total of 18 ballistic and cruise missiles, along with drones. 

“This operation was conducted in solidarity with the Palestinian people and resistance fighters and in retaliation for the crimes committed by the Zionist enemy in the Gaza Strip,” Saree said.

The spokesperson vowed to continue military operations against Israeli and American forces until the war on Gaza ceases and the blockade of the territory is lifted.
