UN to reduce its forces in Syria

TEHRAN (Defapress) - A UN official emphasized in an interview with the Russian Sputnik news agency that the organization intends to temporarily reduce the number of its forces in the Syrian capital, Damascus.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also claimed on Sunday regarding the developments in Syria: After the fall of the government, the people of this country can use a historic opportunity today to build a stable and peaceful future. 

The UN Secretary-General continued: The future of Syria is a matter for the Syrian people to determine, and my special envoy will work with them to achieve this goal. We need the support of the international community to ensure that any political transition is inclusive and meets the legitimate demands of the Syrian people.
