Reuters reported on Sunday, March 10, 2024, citing a US State Department spokesman, that the administration of President Donald Trump has ended Iraq's sanctions waiver for purchasing electricity from Iran.
The US had extended Iraq's sanctions waiver for purchasing electricity from Iran since 2018 so that the country can meet its energy needs.
The last time the administration of former US President Joe Biden extended this waiver was on November 7, 2024.
