Supreme Council of Alawites Calls for Widespread Demonstrations in Syria

TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to Al-Mayadeen, Sheikh Ghazal Ghazal, Head of the Supreme Alawite Islamic Council in Syria, stressed that from 12 noon today until 5 pm, Syrians will be present peacefully in all squares.

He called on different segments of Syrian society to join this movement.

Sheikh Ghazal added: "We do not want a civil war, but we seek to govern Syria federally. What is happening in this country is not a conflict between the conflicting parties, but rather the destruction of identity, the destruction of the will, and the forced surrender of the people."

He stated: "Silence in the face of these crimes will only increase the killing and collapse, and the continuation of this situation without achieving rapid radical solutions and international support will deepen the destruction in Syria."

Sheikh Ghazal had previously warned of imminent clashes and held Damascus responsible for the aggression against the Alawites. It should be noted that a recent terrorist explosion at the Imam Ali (AS) Mosque in Homs targeted worshippers.
