US Has No Will to Reduce Tensions by Repeatedly Violating the Ceasefire

TEHRAN (Defapress) - In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran condemned the military attack by the US terrorist army in the early hours of Saturday, June 6, 2026, on the radar and coastal surveillance facilities in the Sirik region and Qeshm Island, and considered this action to be an indication of the complete disregard of the US authorities for the fundamental principles of international law and the United Nations Charter.

The full text of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement is as follows:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the military attack by the terrorist US army in the early hours of Saturday, June 6, 2026, on radar and coastal surveillance facilities in the Sirik region and Qeshm Island, whose mission is to protect the security of the country's borders and the security of shipping in international waterways, as a clear violation of the ceasefire of April 19 and a military aggression against the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

This action, which has been taken in continuation of the hostile and provocative behavior of the US regime against the Islamic Republic of Iran, demonstrates the complete disregard of the US authorities for the fundamental principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. The powerful armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, within the framework of the inherent right of legitimate defense and with full vigilance, determination, and authority, gave a proportionate and effective response to this aggressive act and did not allow the evil goals of the planners of this aggression to be realized.

The repeated violation of the ceasefire by the United States proves once again that this country not only does not have the will to reduce tensions and return to the path of stability, but also poses serious risks to the security of the region with its adventurous actions, and the responsibility for all the effects and consequences of these illegal actions, as well as any possible escalation of tension, will lie with the US government.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while emphasizing the inherent and legitimate right of the country to defend itself based on Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, states that the Islamic Republic of Iran will defend the sovereignty, security, and national interests of the country with all its might and using all its capacities. Accordingly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly calls on the countries of the region to observe the principle of good neighborliness and adhere to the fundamental principle of international law that it should refrain from allowing aggressors to use their territory and facilities to plan and carry out aggressive actions against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also calls on the UN Secretary-General, the Security Council, and other responsible international bodies to respond immediately and effectively to the continued flagrant violations of the ceasefire and the illegal actions of the United States, and to prevent the increasing normalization of violations of the UN Charter and actions that threaten regional and international peace and security.
