Is the Strait of Hormuz Open?

TEHRAN (Defapress) - The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's main strategic waterways, through which a major share of the world's oil is transported.

The Strait of Hormuz was open until March 2026, when the US terrorist army launched a war against Iran; but after the start of this illegal and illegitimate war, Iran proved to the global arrogance by closing the Strait of Hormuz that a war can cost the world dearly.

In fact, the Strait of Hormuz has been closed since March 2026 with the waterway management of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, centered on the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran (of course, the initiative in this area is given to the IRGC Navy, and the management of the Gulf of ​​Oman is the responsibility of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran). After recent events in the region, media reports indicate that the world has lost more than one billion barrels of oil due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and this figure truly shows the high importance of the Strait of Hormuz to the entire world.

After the first round of the Third Imposed War (40-Day War) and with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the presidents of Iran and the United States, the Strait of Hormuz was opened partially and under the management of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy; but due to the excessive demands of the American side and the violation of the Islamabad MoU, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps closed the strait again, and even now, despite several ping-pong clashes, the strait remains closed; therefore, the Americans, who could not oppose Iran on the battlefield, tried to cover up the weakness of their army in the war with Iran by resorting to psychological warfare.

Referring to the crimes of the United States in the region and the country's breach of promise regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Brigadier General Seyed Majid Ibn al-Reza, acting Minister of Defense and Support of the Armed Forces, said in this regard: "From the very beginning, the United States government tried to impose its demands on the Islamic Republic of Iran by repeatedly violating the ceasefire, one of the most important of which was the establishment of a naval blockade and attempts to create new traffic arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz, contrary to Article 5 of the Memorandum of Understanding. The United States believes that by exerting pressure on countries to travel along its desired route, and in fact disrupting shipping routes and continuing the war with other methods, it can weaken the will of our nation."

He added: "The Islamic Republic of Iran will never give in to pressure, and the result of this resistance has so far led to the defeat of the strategic deadlock and confusion for the Trump administration."

Also, recently, US President Donald Trump has claimed in numerous statements and tweets that the Strait of Hormuz is open and that there is traffic through it; a point that is not consistent with the current situation of the Strait of Hormuz and the global price of oil; of course, not only the US President, but also a series of mercenaries and media affiliated with the White House are trying to show the Strait of Hormuz as open by lying.

Barak Ravid, a mercenary journalist for Axios, who in fact publishes most of his news to improve the image of the White House, says in this regard: Around 40 tankers transited in and out of the Strait of Hormuz through the southern deep channel on Friday night. Around 16 million barrels of oil moved out of the strait through the southern channel on Friday night, three U.S. officials told me.

But the lies of the US government can be detected through more reputable media outlets such as Reuters. Reuters says in this regard: The transfer of oil cargoes through the Strait of Hormuz has almost stopped.

This actually shows that the US claims about the Strait of Hormuz are nothing more than lies, because if the Strait of Hormuz is truly open, why does the US government always talk about the transfer of oil cargoes through regional oil pipelines?

Another reason that shows that the claims of American officials in this regard are lies is the price of North Sea Brent oil. The price of North Sea Brent oil has been between $93 and $95 (a number that approaches $100) in recent days, which is the biggest sign of the Americans' lie about the openness of the Strait of Hormuz. If the Strait of Hormuz is open, the price of Brent oil should be traded within the $60 range, and this exposes the lies of the US government.

It seems that American officials are trying to keep the price of oil stable through psychological warfare in the current situation. However, the increase in gasoline prices in the United States and the increase in the price of North Sea Brent oil show that the US government, which is breaking its promises and lying, has resorted to publishing false information regarding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
