TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to the TASS news agency on Sunday, Andrei Rudenko said he would not disclose the details of the agreement that is expected to be signed soon.
"I would only emphasize that it will address the challenges and requirements of our era and encompass nearly all current and prospective areas of Russian-Iranian collaboration, particularly in defense and security," he stated.
In 2001, Tehran and Moscow formalized a long-term cooperation agreement, known as the Treaty of the Foundation of Mutual Relations and the Principles of Cooperation. Originally established for a decade, this treaty has been extended until 2026.
Currently, both capitals are finalizing arrangements for a comprehensive partnership agreement, which is expected to shape their bilateral relations across all sectors for the next 20 years.
Rudenko highlighted that the dynamics of Iran-Russia relations have significantly evolved over the last twenty years.
“We are closely coordinating approaches with our Iranian friends and take necessary measures to strengthen peace and security” in the region, he added.
Last month, Iran’s Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, indicated that the strategic partnership treaty would be signed during Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's visit to Moscow, although the date for this visit has not yet been determined.
