Hezbollah's Decisive Victory in the Lebanese Municipal Elections

According to the official Lebanese news agency, the highest number of votes was registered in the province of Baalbek.

The Lebanese Ministry of Interior issued a statement announcing that the participation rate in the municipal elections in Beirut was 20 percent, in Beqaa 42.84 percent, in Hermel 44.90 percent, and in Baalbek 46.73 percent.

This morning, Al-Ahed news agency, referring to the publication of the initial results of the Lebanese municipal elections, announced the victory of the "Development and Loyalty" faction affiliated with Lebanon's Hezbollah in all polling stations in the province of Beqaa.

Also in Hermel Governorate and the villages of Zahleh region, representatives of the Hezbollah-affiliated Development and Loyalty Faction, the Amal Movement, and the Free National Movement (affiliated with Michel Aoun and allied with Hezbollah) were able to win the most votes. In these areas, representatives of the Forces Party, affiliated with Samir Geagea, suffered a heavy defeat against Hezbollah.

The results from other Lebanese regions will also be announced today by the Lebanese Ministry of Interior, but speculation from Beirut suggests that the Lebanese people did not vote for options that have proven their failure in the past to handle domestic affairs.
