TEHRAN (Defapress) - Ebrahim Rezaei, Spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, in an interview with Defapress correspondent, responded to recent remarks by American officials regarding Iran's nuclear program, stating: "Instead of dictating terms to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Americans should first clarify their own position. We confidently assert that the bluster, threats, and political posturing, whether from Trump or others, have had and will have no impact on the overarching strategies of the Islamic Republic."

Hostile Actions Will Face a Firm Response from Iran

Rezaei emphasized that uranium enrichment is the natural right of the Iranian nation, adding: "No one can deprive us of this undeniable right. Therefore, if the Americans or any other actor take any unusual or hostile measures against Iran, whether at the regional level or in international bodies like the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iran’s response will be severe and decisive. At the very least, the Islamic Republic’s reaction to such threats would be to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), a decision whose consequences the Western parties are well aware of."

He noted that four decades of experience have proven that the Islamic Republic of Iran does not retreat under pressure or threats, stressing: "The dignified path taken by the Iranian people, relying on domestic expertise and capabilities, will continue. If the U.S. truly cares about international security, it must revise its confrontational and domineering approach."

Further elaborating on the legal and technical dimensions of Iran’s nuclear program, the National Security Committee spokesperson underscored: "Uranium enrichment is carried out within the framework of the NPT and under IAEA supervision. This is not only an indisputable right for Iran but also an established right for all member states of the treaty. Over the years, the Islamic Republic has consistently demonstrated goodwill in its interactions with international institutions. However, Western parties, through their political and selective behavior, have undermined the path of dialogue. Thus, we reiterate that our enrichment policy is based on the country’s peaceful needs in energy, medicine, agriculture, and advanced technologies, and suspending or limiting it is in no way on the Islamic Republic’s agenda."

Rezaei concluded by emphasizing: "Our advice to American officials is that before making any decisions, they should exercise a degree of rationality and not sacrifice their long-term interests for misguided policies based on pressure. Iran is not a country that retreats from its rights under threat, and their experience in recent years should have taught them a lesson."
