TEHRAN (Defapress) - Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for the Islamic Republic of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made statements during a press conference with media representatives. He stated: I would like to begin the session by congratulating the birth of the Prophet of Islam and offering greetings for the Unity Week. Unity Week is an opportunity for Muslims to reflect on the opportunities and challenges that engage everyone, foremost among them the issue of Palestine, which pains everyone's heart.

Sumud Flotilla Is Symbol of Human Society's Anger Against Israel

At the beginning of this press conference, Baghaei drew everyone's attention to the catastrophe ongoing in Palestine. He also mentioned that in just the past 2 hours, the number of Palestinian martyrs and injured due to hunger and thirst has changed.

Baghaei referred to the continuation of the genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza and said that, given the developments in the region, including the issue of the Palestinian genocide, it is expected that this very issue and international demand for its cessation should be the most important matter for the global community. In response to a question from a journalist regarding the Gaza Valley and stopping the Israeli genocide, Baghaei said: The flotilla (of aid ships) is a symbol of the anger and wrath of human society regarding the genocide in Gaza.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that in the past week, 2 unpleasant incidents occurred: the Afghanistan earthquake and the floods in Pakistan. He reported on the aid that has been donated to these two countries.

Baghaei addressed the claims made by the Agency (IAEA) and Grossi against Iran, saying: We have reviewed the Agency's report. We will reflect our positions in a note to the Agency and the Board of Governors. We had expected a fair report that considered the field realities and the attack on Iran's nuclear facilities. This incident was so heinous that the Agency should address it in detail, with the view that such violations are not repeated in the future.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized: Our understanding is that the Agency has realized that the method and manner of implementing Iran's safeguards obligations cannot be like before the violation. Moreover, this incident was unique, and there was no protocol for inspection in this case, and the Agency has understood that it must take Iran's views into account.

Baghaei described the process of talks with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as positive and stated: Our negotiators have kept the field realities, the law of the parliament (Majlis), and the opinion of the Supreme National Security Council in mind. Furthermore, we are waiting for the text of the new method of cooperation between Iran and the Agency to be prepared. Based on this, early in May, the documents accessed by the Agency were transferred to Vienna, which was against protocol, and the Agency has also accepted that it should not have been done.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson described the talks between [Deputy Foreign Minister] Araghchi and the European Union's foreign policy chief in Qatar as useful and added: We see it as our duty to use every opportunity to advance the country's interests, express our views, and warn against the abuse of the snapback mechanism. Points and ideas were raised, and we hope that we will eventually reach a point where the European parties reconsider their methods.

At this press conference, in reaction to Kallas's statement about the Shanghai meeting, Baghaei also pointed to this important matter and said: This point raised by the European Union's foreign policy chief should be viewed within the framework of the Western countries' perspective of securitizing and viewing competitors as enemies. But our question is, which rules and order is Ms. Kallas referring to? Is she referring to the events happening in Gaza? These claims, considering the performance of the European Union, have no acceptance in the international community.

Regarding the circulation of news about restrictions placed on the movement of the Iranian delegation at the United Nations in New York, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson noted: The United States cannot legally create this obstacle. However, as in the past, we will use this opportunity to explain our positions. Furthermore, the Honorable President is scheduled to attend this assembly. We are making coordination and will follow up on the discussions.
