"Iraqi Air Force warplanes have conducted airstrikes targeting six headquarters in the town of Al-Qa’em,” WMC said in a statement, Iraqi News reported.
"Several ISIL elements were killed in the airstrike as they were holding a meeting in one of the destroyed headquarters,” the statement added.
ISIL has held the towns of Qa'em, Rawa and Annah, on Anbar’s borders with Syria, posing threats to the liberated regions. ISIL havens are expected to be targeted by the Iraqi government, after security achieved victory in Mosul, the group’s biggest stronghold in Iraq.
Violence in the country has surged further with the emergence of ISIL militants who proclaimed a weakening rule in Iraq and Syria in 2014.
Bombings and armed attacks are seen on almost a daily basis against security members, paramilitary groups and civilians since the Iraqi government launched a wide-scale campaign to retake ISIL-occupied areas in 2016.
