TEHRAN (Defapress) - In an interview with American media, in response to US President Donald Trump's statements last week that talks with Iran may resume this week, Seyed Abbas Araghchi said, "I do not think the talks will resume so quickly."
Araghchi, speaking to a CBS reporter in Tehran, added: "To decide to renegotiate, we must first make sure that the US does not target us with a military attack during the negotiations."
The Foreign Minister continued: "With all these considerations, we still need more time. However, the doors of diplomacy will never be closed."
He also noted in response to Trump's claim that Iran's nuclear facilities were destroyed: "No one can destroy enrichment technology and science by bombing."
Araghchi added: "If there is a will on our part and a will to make progress again in this industry, we can quickly compensate for the losses and make up for the lost time."
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran stated: "Iran's peaceful nuclear program has become a matter of national pride and honor."
He also said: "We have survived the 12 days of war that were imposed on us, so the people will not easily abandon enrichment."
Araghchi emphasized the defense of Iran in the event of any military aggression, saying: "We have shown and proven our ability to defend ourselves during the war, and if we are subjected to any aggression again, we will continue to do so."
