Zionist Regime's Attack on Evin Prison Caused 71 Martyrs

TEHRAN (Defapress) - In June 23, the lawless Zionist regime carried out a savage terrorist attack on Evin Prison, once again demonstrating its disregard for and non-compliance with international laws. In an act that violates international and humanitarian laws, the regime targeted and attacked several buildings within Evin Prison, including the medical clinic, the technical and engineering building, the visitation hall, and the judicial administration office.

In this regard, Asghar Jahangir, the spokesperson for the Judiciary, announced the statistics of the martyrs of this heinous crime, which pains the heart of every citizen. He stated: "Unfortunately, in this attack, the Zionists committed a full-fledged crime, even severely affecting neighbors living near the visitation hall and judicial administration office of Evin Prison."

Jahangir noted that the damages inflicted on the neighbors of Evin Prison included heavy material losses and bodily injuries. He said: "The Zionist attack on Evin Prison caused extensive financial and physical harm to the neighbors close to the visitation hall and judicial administration building. Regrettably, this attack, which clearly had widespread effects on ordinary civilians, also resulted in martyrs among the neighbors."

Regarding the total number of martyrs in the attack on Evin Prison, the Judiciary spokesperson stated: "On the day of the attack, a number of families had gone to Evin to visit or follow up on the cases of their imprisoned relatives. Unfortunately, the mentioned hall was hit by a projectile, leading to injuries and martyrdom among several citizens present at the scene."

Jahangir announced the cumulative death toll of the Evin incident at 71 martyrs at the time of this report. He added: "During the attack on Evin Prison, 71 people were martyred, including administrative staff, conscript soldiers, imprisoned convicts, families of prisoners who had come for visits or legal follow-ups, and neighbors living near the prison."

He further noted: "Unfortunately, a number of people were injured in this incident, some treated on-site, some after being transferred to hospitals, and others after hospitalization and supplementary treatments before being discharged."
