The Arabic-language website of Sputnik reported that the army used Russia-made MT-LB armored vehicles, equipped with 23mm cannon, in the liberation operation of the town of al-Sukhnah in Eastern Homs.
Meanwhile, senior Russian military expert Yuri Liamin said that the Syrian Army had not previously owned MT-LB armored vehicles, adding that the vehicles were vastly used in Iraq.
Liamin further said that Russians might have recently dispatched MT-LB vehicles to Syria or the vehicles might have been seized from the terrorists who, in turn, had captured the vehicles in clashes with the Iraqi army earlier.
Sputnik Arabic also reported on Saturday that the Syrian Air Force has recently received more Mi-24P military helicopters known as Flying Tanks from Russia.
In the meantime, Wistnik Moradfi website reported that the army had been utilizing the Flying Tanks in operations against terrorists in the war-hit country.
