Pakistan postpones visit by US delegation to IslamabadSpokesperson for Pakistan's foreign ministry said on Sunday that the visit by the US delegation has been postponed at the request of Pakistan government until a mutually convenient time.

Apparently, as a result of the current anti-US atmosphere across Pakistan and growing anger of Pakistani people and officials over Washington policies, it is not a an appropriate time for the US officials to visit Islamabad.

Wells was set to visit Islamabad on August 28 to discuss cooperation in the region. Earlier the US Embassy spokesperson had also confirmed the postponement of the visit.

The development surfaced at a time when relations between the two countries are already tense after the US President Donald Trump, delivering a speech on Afghanistan policy, accused Pakistan of providing safe havens to terrorists.

Islamabad strongly rejected Trump's accusation and during the last three days, anti-US demonstrations were held in different cities across Pakistan.

Meanwhile Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has also delayed his visit to United S

A day after Trump’s anti-Pakistan statement Secretary of State Rex Tillerson had warned Pakistan that it could lose its status as a privileged military ally if it continues giving 'safe haven' to Afghan militant groups.
