US Trying to Further Instigate Kurds against Turkey
"Regional confrontations will yield no positive results for any countries involved," Rezayee said while pointing to the presence of the US troops in Northern Syria and their confrontation with Turkish army.
The senior official reiterated that it would be better if everyone made efforts so that legitimate governments could establish sustainable peace in their countries.
He underlined that the US military coalition in Syria is seeking to reinforce and rally the Kurds against Turkey, and said, "Turkey, in return, is trying to disrupt the US plans."
Rezayee underlined that despite longstanding friendly ties between Washington and Ankara, today their disputes have been dragged into Syria, and undoubtedly, their confrontation will bring about no positive outcome for none of these countries.
In a relevant development on Friday, Syrian official Heifi Mustafa said that foreign forces need the Afrin offensive launched by the Turks to enflame a new round of war in the region.
The Turkish Olive Branch Operation in the Syrian Northwestern town of Afrin opens the door to a new phase of war in the country, Heifi Mustafa, the head of the executive council of the district, told Sputnik Arabic.
"The humanitarian situation in our region is steadily deteriorating," Mustafa said. "People are attacked from the ground and from the air. Civilians, including children from orphanages, are subjected to attacks."
He noted that thousands of refugees from other Syrian regions, who had previously found shelter in Afrin, fell under the heavy bombardment of the Turks.
According to Mustafa, "the purpose of the Afrin operation is to allow new mercenaries to enter Syria and begin the new round of war."
"A lot of forces are interested in this," the Syrian official believes. "It is the US who is especially interested in the bombing of Syria's Afrin."
However, despite the heavy bombardment, the invaders cannot break into the town, as its residents are resisting the offensive, Mustafa stressed.
