Daesh Fall Reflects Failure of US PlansAddressing the 7th Moscow Conference on International Security (MCIS) on Wednesday, Brigadier General Amir Hatami said the US, frustrated at the defeat of its policies with the fall of Daesh, is expected to begin “a new era of regional hostilities and tensions to fill the current vacuum” and secure its regional influence.

The policy of building up power, monopolistic strategies, and adoption of an approach to international security based on one’s interests have prepared the ground for the birth and spread of terrorism, the Iranian minister said, adding, “You see that the worst campaign of terror and massacre of people is (being organized) in Washington.”

He also said that certain actors, most notably the US, are concerned about the unity of Muslim nations and are aware that Islamic unity would shape a strong security order.

Criticizing attempts aimed at disrupting Muslim unity and preventing the formation of an Asian arrangement for development and security, General Hatami said Iran believes that combatting the major modern challenges, namely extremism and terrorism, requires cooperative defense policies and pursuit of an “Asian security order on the basis of economic, political and cultural links within the region.”

Heading a military delegation, the Iranian minister has travelled to Russia to attend the international security conference and hold talks with foreign military officials.

This year’s conference in Moscow focuses on the defeat of Daesh’s self-proclaimed caliphate in Syria and Iraq.
