Army Grants Amnesty to Thousands More of Militants in Central Syria

Almost 32,000 militants that had laid down arms have received government amnesty in Northern Homs during the last two weeks and after the Syrian Army managed to impose full control over Northern Homs and Southern Hama, an Arab media outlet reported on Tuesday.

Army Grants Amnesty to Thousands More of Militants in Central SyriaTEHRAN (Defapress)- Al-Watan daily quoted a field sources as reporting that a sum of 32,000 militants that had laid down weapons went to peace committees in the towns and villages of al-Rastan, Talbiseh, Dar al-Kabireh, al-Zaferaniyeh, Taldou and Ezzeddeen and received their amnesty issued by the Damascus government.

In the meantime, the army's engineering units carried out cleansing operation in the region to defuse explosives, discovering a large volume of arms and ammunition, including missiles, landmines, bombs and mortar shells in al-Qantou region in Northern Homs.

Al-Watan quoted informed sources in Homs province as saying on Thursday that 8,000 militants went to the peace committees in the towns of al-Rastan, Talbiseh, Taldou, al-Za'aferaniyeh, Ezzeddeen and al-Dar al-Kabireh so far to receive amnesty since the start of the implementation of the second paragraph of the reconciliation agreement in Northern and Northwestern Homs.

Meantime, 500 militants who opposed certain paragraphs of the agreement declared that they would leave the region towards Jarabulus.

The sources also said that a number of family members of the terrorists in Jarabulus and Idlib, who had left Homs earlier, called on the government officials to grant them amnesty to return to Central Syria after experiencing difficulties and mistreatment in Idlib.
