Iran, Oman Eye Military Medicine Cooperation

Military officials from Iran and Oman met in Tehran to discuss the ways to launch cooperation between the Armed Forces of the two sides in the medical sphere.

Iran, Oman Eye Military Medicine CooperationTEHRAN (Tasnim) –A delegation from the medical department of Sultan of Oman's Armed Forces, chaired by Colonel Dr. Ali bin Salem al-Harethi, held a meeting with the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps deputy chief for medical and rescue affairs, here in Tehran on Monday.

In the gathering, the two commanders stressed the need for close cooperation between the military forces of Iran and Oman in the field of medical training and treatment.

The Iranian commander, General Ahmad Abdollahi, highlighted the experience that Iran has gained in the military medicine during eight years of Iraqi imposed war in the 1980s, saying Tehran is ready to share its knowledge with Oman.

The Omani official, for his part, hailed Iran’s advances in the military medicine arena, saying his country is eager to use the Iranian Armed Forces’ experience in this field.

The Omani delegation also showed an interest in the IRGC’s capability to erect field hospitals and offer emergency services in various medical specialties in time of crisis and natural disasters.

Iran and Oman have developed strong political relations in recent years, with their top officials making regular reciprocal visits.

The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Sultanate of Oman have also held several joint naval drills in the Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman over the past years.

Back in May, Iran and Oman held the 14th meeting of a joint commission for talks on the enhancement of cooperation between the military and police forces of the two countries.
