Rouhani, Macron Stress Preserving JCPOA, Broadening Economic, Banking Cooperation

TEHRAN (defapress)- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron in a meeting in New York underlined the need to preserve and reinforce the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and expand relations between the two countries, specially at bilateral, regional and international levels.

Rouhani, Macron Stress Preserving JCPOA, Broadening Economic, Banking CooperationDuring the meeting on the sidelines of the 73rd Annual meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, the Iranian and French presidents explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating mutual cooperation, specially in the economic field.

During the meeting, President Rouhani and his French counterpart also called for preserving the JCPOA by the European states.

President Rouhani arrived in New York Sunday evening to attend the high profile meeting.

During his stay in New York, Rouhani has already held meetings with American political elites, his Cuban, Bolivian, Turkish and French counterparts, head of the International Olympic Committee, director of the International Monetary Fund, Chief Executive of Afghanistan and Norwegian prime minister.

The Iranian president also delivered speeches at the UN General Assembly and a meeting commemorating late South African leader Nelson Mandela besides giving interviews to NBC, CNN and PBS networks.

He also scheduled to meet with British, Belgian and Armenian prime ministers.
