Iranian, Chinese Officials Discuss War on TerrorOn Thursday, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani met Dang Jing Wing, China’s representative in the ‘Regional Security Dialogue’ which was held in Tehran a day earlier.

In the meeting, Shamkhani hailed the growing economic, political and military cooperation between Iran and China, saying the common interests and stances have provided opportunities for bilateral cooperation and joint action to tackle regional and international challenges, such as terrorism.

Denouncing the use of “illegal sanctions” by the hegemony as a failed strategy that backfires, Shamkhani hailed China’s constructive role in regional and international developments and called for accelerated implementation of Tehran-Beijing security agreements.

He also called for close interaction among regional countries in cutting off the financial support that certain trans-regional countries have provided for terrorism and in preventing the use of terrorism as a tool for imposing foreign will on governments.

For his part, the Chinese official highlighted Iran’s role in the war against terrorism and extremism, saying restoration of peace and stability in Syria is necessary for sustainable calm in the Middle East.

Wing also warned that lack of serious, collective and unbiased fight against terrorism would make that threat uncontrollable.

The Chinese security official has visited Tehran to join his Iranian, Russian, Indian and Afghan counterparts for the Regional Security Dialogue.
