Russian Chemical Defense Chief Dies in Moscow Explosion

TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to RT, an explosion occurred near a residential building in southeastern Moscow, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, including Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, who served as the head of Russia’s Radiological Chemical and Biological Defense Forces, as confirmed by officials.

In a statement released in the early hours of Tuesday, the Investigative Committee reported that the explosion was triggered by a remotely controlled improvised explosive device that had been affixed to an electric scooter parked at the entrance. The committee noted that both Kirillov and his aide were killed in the incident. Previous media reports indicated that the device was detonated while the two were exiting the building.

Russian authorities have initiated a criminal investigation, as stated by the committee, and the inquiry is currently in progress.
