TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to the Lebanese website Al-Nashra, at the end of Lebanese President Joseph Aoun's visit to Saudi Arabia, a joint Saudi-Lebanese statement was issued. It began by stating: "At the kind invitation of Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, within the framework of the historical relations between Saudi Arabia and Lebanon and to strengthen bilateral relations between them, Mr. Joseph Aoun, President of Lebanon, conducted his official visit to Saudi Arabia on March 3, 2025."

According to the statement, Mohammed bin Salman welcomed Joseph Aoun at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh and informed him that King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia wishes President Aoun good health and well-being, and prosperity and flourishing for Lebanon and its brotherly people. In turn, Joseph Aoun conveyed his greetings and regards to the King of Saudi Arabia and emphasized his wishes for the King's well-being and health, as well as prosperity and growth for the Saudi nation.

The statement mentioned that Mohammed bin Salman and Joseph Aoun held an official dialogue during which they reviewed the strong bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Lebanon and discussed ways to strengthen them. They emphasized that Lebanon is an integral and inseparable member of the Arab system, and that Arab relations are a guarantee of the country's security and stability. They also discussed the current regional and international situation and stressed the importance of enhancing Arab actions and coordinating positions on important regional and international issues.

According to the joint Saudi-Lebanese statement, Joseph Aoun and Mohammed bin Salman agreed to examine the obstacles to resuming exports from Lebanon to Saudi Arabia and to take the necessary measures to allow Saudi citizens to travel to Lebanon. The meeting also emphasized the importance of the points raised in President Aoun's speech after he was elected as president.

The statement stressed that Mohammed bin Salman and Joseph Aoun emphasized the importance of fully implementing the Taif Agreement, enforcing all relevant international resolutions, extending the Lebanese government's authority over all Lebanese territories, ensuring the state's monopoly on weapons, the national role of the Lebanese army, the importance of supporting it, and the necessity of the withdrawal of Israeli occupiers from Lebanese territories.

According to the statement, the meeting between Joseph Aoun and Mohammed bin Salman also highlighted the necessity of improving Lebanon's economic situation, resolving the current crisis, and initiating appropriate international reforms based on transparent principles and the implementation of binding laws.
