TEHRAN (Defapress) - The Office of the President of Pakistan announced in a statement that President Asif Ali Zardari has called on the Taliban government to take practical and verifiable measures against members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
In this statement, Zardari emphasized that the terrorist threat posed by militant groups operating in Balochistan with the support of India is the biggest threat to regional peace and stability.
He reiterated that Pakistan is firmly committed to protecting its national interests, regional sovereignty, and security.
The President of Pakistan also claimed that attacks carried out from Afghan soil by foreign armed groups in Balochistan province are a documented fact and confirmed in successive reports of the United Nations Security Council.
Zardari continued, Pakistan has repeatedly stated that its citizens and security forces are being targeted by a network of foreign armed groups and other terrorist groups supported by India.
He stressed: “Terrorism is a common challenge and its burden should not be placed on the shoulders of any one country.”
Stating that his country wants a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Afghanistan, the Pakistani President expressed hope that the Taliban will prevent the TTP and Baloch militants from using their soil against Pakistan, and stressed that only joint and practical measures can ensure lasting peace in the region.
