Russian Army General Assassinated in Moscow

TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to RT, the Russian State Investigative Committee announced on Monday that a senior general of the Russian General Staff was killed in a car bomb explosion in Moscow.

Previously, several senior Russian military officials had been assassinated in the country. Moscow had accused elements affiliated with the Ukrainian army of carrying out these assassinations.

The spokeswoman for the Russian State Investigative Committee, Svetlana Petrenko, announced that a criminal case had been opened in Moscow regarding the murder of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov, head of the Russian General Staff's army operational training directorate.

She added: "Various scenarios about this murder are being investigated, and one of the hypotheses is the possible involvement of Ukrainian intelligence services in organizing this crime."

As Ukraine's negotiations to end this bloody four-year war continue, many officials and security analysts have warned about attempts by some European security services to disrupt these negotiations.
