Strengthening Nuclear Deterrence Is Essential
TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to North Korea's state news agency, Kim Jong-un, the country's ruler, announced that recent developments in the international arena require the country to strengthen its nuclear deterrent forces.
He said: Strengthening nuclear deterrent forces is necessary due to the recent geopolitical crisis and the complexity of the international situation.
Speaking at a weapons drill, the North Korean ruler added: The purpose of this drill is to assess the combat readiness of the hypersonic weapons system, as well as to measure the efficiency and mobility of North Korea's deterrent forces.
According to the report, hypersonic missiles fired northeast from the Ryongsong area in Pyongyang hit targets 1,000 kilometers away in the Sea of Japan.
