Occupation of Greenland Will Mark the End of NATO

TEHRAN (Defapress) - European Union Defense Commissioner warned that if the United States gains control over Greenland through force and military might, it would signal the end of NATO.

While the European Union and Greenland officials have opposed any annexation of the territory by the United States, the Trump administration continues to insist on acquiring Greenland. This stance has strained relations between Denmark and the United States as NATO allies.

The Trump administration argues that the United States must control Greenland to ensure its security against growing threats from China and Russia in the Arctic, describing it as a matter of national security.

In the latest statement, the U.S. Special Representative for Greenland, Jeff Landry, claimed in a post on X that Denmark occupied Greenland after World War II, contrary to UN laws.

Danish officials have repeatedly rejected the Trump administration's positions on the region's ownership and the presence of China and Russia there.
