US Handed Over the Shaddadi Base to the Jolani Government

TEHRAN (Defapress) - The Ministry of Defense of the Jolani government announced that the country's forces, after coordinating with the American side, took over the Shaddadi military base on the outskirts of Hasakah.

The Shaddadi base was one of the most important US military bases in northeastern Syria (Hasakah province), which was used as the main center of operations of the US-led international coalition during the years of the war against ISIS (2014-2019).

The base is located near the city of Shaddadi and important oil fields in the region and hosted American forces, advanced equipment, as well as the famous Shaddadi prison (where thousands of ISIS members and their families were held).

According to reports, American forces moved their equipment towards Erbil (Iraqi Kurdistan Region) and evacuated the base. Previously, the Al-Tanf base (in the Syria-Iraq-Jordan border triangle) had been completely handed over to Syria.
