Origin of Attacks on Iran Is the Legitimate Target of Our Strikes
TEHRAN (Defapress) - Stating the US military aggression against Iran, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the US aggressive attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran over the past 24 hours. These brutal attacks are not only a gross violation of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, especially Article 2, Paragraph 4, but also a serious threat to international peace and security and have rendered all efforts of recent months to reduce tension and establish peace in the West Asian region fruitless.
The statement states: While only 25 days have passed since the signing of the understanding to end the war, the US regime has openly violated almost all components of that agreement and has committed the most heinous war crimes by attacking Iranian transportation infrastructure, fishing boats, and cargo ships, meteorological facilities, and buildings.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized: The US regime has also caused the return of insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz and disruption of international commercial shipping by openly interfering in the process of implementing the necessary arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz by Iran. At the same time, the US terrorist army has practically turned these countries into the arena of its illegal and criminal war against the Iranian nation by using the territory and facilities of the countries located on the southern edge of the Persian Gulf to prepare for military aggression against Iran.
The statement added: While emphasizing its determination to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iran against the military aggression of the US and any other aggressor, the Islamic Republic of Iran warns against any participation and cooperation with the aggressor parties. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that neighboring countries are obliged under international law to prevent the aggressor parties from using their territory and facilities to commit military aggression against Iran, and the origin and source of attacks against Iran will be the legitimate target of defensive strikes by the brave armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The statement reads: “While violating the treaty, the US ruling party continues its campaign of spreading lies and publishing fake news to distort the facts and justify its violations of the law. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that what the US President claimed about the outcome of the Muscat talks on Saturday is a complete and desperate lie; the Muscat talks were essentially focused on the arrangements for managing the Strait of Hormuz and traffic routes, and unfortunately, the US prevented a result from being reached on that issue through overt and covert pressure on Oman.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded the statement by emphasizing: “The Ministry regrets the unconstructive approach of the UN Secretariat towards the US’s clear violation of the law and bullying, and notes the responsibility of the Secretary-General and the Security Council of this organization to address violations of international peace and security, and calls for holding the aggressor parties accountable and for the instigators and perpetrators of crimes committed against the Iranian nation to be held accountable.”
