Iranian Diplomacy Is Human-Centered Diplomacy
TEHRAN (Defapress) - Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the inaugural ceremony of the event "Muharram and Ashura Frome teh Perspective of the Documents of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," described the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS) as beyond a mere historical or religious event, calling it a "School of Life," an "everlasting charter for justice-seeking," and a "foundational document of resistance against oppression and corruption."
The Iranian Foreign Minister, emphasizing that this uprising represents the universal language of justice, stated: "The Iranian nation, over the centuries, has made this liberating school the cornerstone of its faithful existence and its struggle against domination, both in national and international arenas."
Araghchi, referring to the display of hundreds of previously unpublished documents from various eras, some of which are being exhibited for the first time, noted: "These documents demonstrate that safeguarding the culture of Ashura has always been part of the diplomatic identity of Iranians; even during periods with anti-religious approaches, such as the Pahlavi regime."
He pointed to historical reports of Ashura ceremonies in cities such as St. Petersburg, Istanbul, the Caucasus, and India, and added: "These documents attest that Iran has always been the civilizational pivot for promoting the human and spiritual values of Ashura."
Araghchi continued: "In the deeper layers of these documents, a manifestation of Iran's 'civilizational ambition' in opposition to the system of domination is seen. Iran's diplomacy in these documents is human-centered and takes advantage of every opportunity to elevate human values."
Araghchi stated that Muharram in this collection is not merely a religious ritual, but has a presence in social spheres and international relations. He cited examples such as ensuring the security of pilgrims, supporting mourning ceremonies for Iranians abroad, and maintaining and equipping holy sites.
In another part of his remarks, the Foreign Minister referred to the special circumstances of this year's Muharram and the attacks by American and Israeli regimes against Iran, saying: "The Iranian nation, through its resilience, has shown that it has embodied the message of Ashura in its life and will remain steadfast in its commitment to resistance."
Araghchi concluded by describing the exhibition of documents at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an opportunity to review the collective memory of Iranians and expressed his gratitude to the researchers and organizers behind the event.
