Wahhabism, Salafism root cause of extremism in regionAmoli Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with the Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Reza Rabbani on Sunday.

Amoli Larijani said the two countries have a long-standing, deep-seated cultural relationship and expressed Iran's readiness to further develop all-out relations with the Middle Eastern country.

"Today, the Islamic world needs to make closer the viewpoints of the Islamic nations and governments, and this is one of today's obligations for all Muslims,” he added.

He also pointed out the efforts of the US and Zionist regime focused on the separation of Muslim nations from one another and the shifting of key issues, such as the resistance of the oppressed Palestinian people to subordinate and fake matters.

The United States and Zionists are pursuing several goals by creating terrorist groups; they aimed at creating discord among Muslims so that Muslim forces might fight with each other instead of addressing issues such as the need for resistance against the Zionist regime. Their next goal was to tarnish the image of Islam to prevent the spread of this peaceful religion in the world.

Ayatollah Amoli Larijani noted that Muslim countries, especially Iran and Pakistan, which themselves are victims of terrorism, can consult to achieve common grounds in the fight against the sinister phenomenon of terrorism.

Reza Rabbani, for his part, expressed satisfaction with his visit to Iran, calling for the exchange of experiences between the two countries in various fields, especially in the legal and judicial sectors.

He also emphasized the need to prevent discord among Muslims, arguing that the long-standing cultural and religious relations of the two countries are the basis for the development of political relations between Iran and Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Senate head welcomed Ayatollah Amoli Larijani's viewpoint on the need for developing an all-embracing relationship between the two countries and promised to pursue the implementation of the legal and judicial agreements.
