ISIL Still Threat to Global Security despite Progress in SyriaLavrov said that ISIL militants are dispersed around the world and are present in the regions close to the Russian borders, Sputnik reported.

"Despite certain progress in the Syrian de-escalation process and fight against terrorism, the threat ISIL poses is still there. Representatives of this terrorist group sprawl around the world, including the regions close to Russia and Indonesia," Lavrov said, shortly after holding talks with his Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi in Jakarta.

According to the Russian minister, in this context, the current situation in the Middle East and North Africa is still a cause for great concern.

"We, just like Indonesia, are convinced that all kinds of conflicts have to be resolved based on the international law, respect to the UN Charter and UN regulations, and through a political dialogue without outside interference," Lavrov said.

The Russian diplomat added that Moscow and Jakarta agreed to expand anti-terror cooperation between the special services of the two countries.

On Tuesday, Lavrov said that a draft paper on countering terrorist ideology prepared jointly by Russia and Indonesia would be presented at the East Asia Summit, scheduled to be held in the Philippines’ capital of Manila in November.
