Iran Keen to Grow Ties with Zambia

As Zambia celebrated the anniversary of its independence on Tuesday, President Rouhani sent a congratulatory message to his Zambian counterpart Edgar Lungu and wished prosperity and success for the African nation.

He also expressed the hope that joint efforts by the officials of Iran and Zambia would contribute to the enhancement of relations between the two sides in all issues of mutual interest.

The Republic of Zambia gained independence in 1964 after decades of nationalist struggle.

Expansion of relations with African nations in all political, economic and cultural fields is top on the agenda of Iran’s foreign policy.

President Rouhani, who secured a second term in May, has repeatedly stressed his government's interest in boosting relations with African states.
