"The sanctions law ... is a blatant interference in Lebanese internal affairs, a violation of its national sovereignty and an unacceptable targeting of the Lebanese people,” Fadlallah said, reading the bloc’s statement during a media conference Thursday.
The lawmaker said the US is "overthrowing international law and replacing it with the law of terrorism.”
The US House of Representatives endorsed the new sanctions on the Lebanese resistance group Hezbollah on Wednesday.
The new sanctions were passed by voice vote, without opposition on the pretext of the resistance group’s "acts of death and destruction.”
