Iranian Cleric Deplores US-Led Attack on Syria as Violation of Int'l LawTEHRAN (Defapress) – “As every day of the disgraceful life of the global arrogance (the US and its allies) passes, they… show more of their inharmonious and savage face to the world,” Ayatollah Kazem Seddiqi said addressing a congregation of worshipers in Tehran on Friday.

The move to attack Syria has its roots in the anger of the US and its allies, he said, adding that they are angry that the resistance front has foiled their plots to create turmoil in the region and dominate it through creating terror groups like Daesh (ISIS or ISIL).

They fired missiles to show off, the cleric said, adding that however, their move resulted in nothing but a disgrace to them.

The US and European allies launched airstrikes on Saturday against Syrian research, storage and military targets under the pretext of an earlier suspected chemical attack near Damascus that killed more than 40 people.

Britain and France joined the United States in the strikes in a coordinated operation that was intended to show Western resolve in the face of what the leaders of the three nations called persistent violations of international law.

Shortly after the attack, the Syrian presidency posted on Twitter, “Honorable souls cannot be humiliated.”
Within 90 minutes, the Russian ambassador to the US warned of “consequences” for the allied attacks.
