TEHRAN (Defapress)-"We will not allow the foreign parties to threaten Iran from Afghanistan's soil under any circumstances," General Bahrami said in a meeting with Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani in Tehran on Sunday.
Shamkhani, for his part, described establishment of stability and security in Afghanistan and full annihilation of terrorist groups as a common goal of Tehran and Kabul, and said, "The experiences in Iraq and Syria show that the US is the main player organizing terrorists and fomenting instability and insecurity in these countries, and certain reactionary Arab regimes have also supported this process financially and logistically."
He added that documents and evidence display that the US and its allies have attacked the Iraqi and Syrian security and military forces in an effort to save the terrorists.
In relevant remarks earlier today, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri underlined that Tehran and Kabul were resolved to boost their cooperation in the ongoing campaign against the terrorist groups.
"The shared backgrounds between the two countries of Iran and Afghanistan, including religion and language, have brought them together in such way that no obstacle can undermine their close relations, specially in combatting the terrorist groups," General Baqeri said during his meeting with General Bahrami in Tehran.
The top Iranian commander, meantime, said that his country has spared no effort to help restore security and stability in Afghanistan.
"Since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran and after Afghanistan was occupied, the Islamic Republic of Iran has always stood by the nation of Afghanistan and the Mujahideen to help them fight against the occupiers,” he said.
He also expressed the hope that the Afghan military delegation’s visit would result in more cooperation between the two countries’ armed forces.
The Afghan defense minister, for his part, expressed his happiness with the visit and called Iran the Afghans’ second home.
General Bahrami lauded age-old Iran-Afghanistan bilateral relations, and appreciated Iran for standing with the people of Afghanistan during the struggle against the occupiers.
He also expressed the hope that security and peace would be restored to Afghanistan in a bid to help the security across the whole region.
