TEHRAN (Defapress) –“There has been no talks and plans on the Japanese premier’s trip to Iran after all. Talking of its cancellation is, therefore, pointless,” Qassemi said on Tuesday.
“The news circulated by some Japanese news agencies is untrue and sheer lies,” he added.
The spokesman described the Tehran-Tokyo ties as age-old, saying, “We welcome the promotion of ties with Japan, as an old friend and partner, at all levels, but no trip to Iran is on the agenda in the foreseeable future”.
His remarks came after Kyodo News reported on June 22 that Abe was considering visiting Iran in July for talks with President Hassan Rouhani.
It said, “The envisaged visit would be part of Abe's trip to Europe and the Middle East slated for mid-July.”
