Iran turns threat of war into opportunity

The threat of the war that was waged to kill the Islamic Revolution and Iran's national independence and dignity turned into an opportunity for national authority and self-esteem and progress, read the statement released on the anniversary of the Iraq-Iran war, known as the sacred defense in Iran.

The eight-year war, known as the sacred defense in Iran, began in 1980 by Iraq's invasion under the former Iraqi dictator Saddam.

The statement also said that the defense authority and unique deterrence of the Islamic Republic of Iran are the result of resistance and lessons learned from the sacred defense.

The IRGC's statement stipulated that the defense power and the strength of the armed forces have deterred the enemies from implementing their tough threats and going to a war with Iran.

In the statement, the terrorist attack against a military parade in Ahvaz was condemned.

The terrorist attack targeted Saturday a military parade and the civilian bystanders in the southwestern city of Ahvaz. At least 24 people, including children and women, were killed and some 60 people were injured by the terrorists.

Referring to the US measures against Iran, IRGC described the economic sanctions and media war by Washington as a 'springboard' for Iran to advance toward a brilliant and promising future.
