"Unfortunately, some Iranian border guards were recently kidnapped by terrorists; the aim of my visit to Pakistan is to hold talks with Pakistani officials in this regard," Zarif said upon his arrival at Islamabad Airport on Wednesday.
Zarif's remarks came after a terrorist group named Jeish al-Adl abducted 12 Iranian border guards on October 16.
"Pakistani officials have promised to make every effort and adopt necessary measures to free Iranian border guards who were abducted by terrorists and taken to Pakistan territory," the Iranian foreign minister added.
According to reports, the incident happened in Lulakdan village, near the border of Pakistan, at around 4 a.m. local time.
The Iranian forces were participating in a plan to boost the security of Mirjaveh border unit.
Jeish al-Adl terrorist group, whose base is in Pakistan, has claimed responsibility for abduction of the Iranian border guards.
