Syria's Enemies Supporting Terrorist Groups to Weaken Bashar Assad Gov't"Certain countries once tried to bring the Syrian nation to their knees through military operations and they are now trying hard to exert political pressures," Larijani said in a meeting with visiting Head of Syria-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group Mohammed Hussein Raghib al-Hussein.

The Iranian parliament speaker slammed the enemies of Syria, and said that the Islamic Republic will continue to support the Syrian government and nation in their fight against the terrorist groups.

He, meantime, pointed to the peace talks underway to resolve the Syrian crisis, and said, "Astana talks are on the right track and we hope the Syrian nation would obtain what they deserve."

The Iranian parliament speaker underlined that all sides should take advantage of the current international atmosphere in favor of Syrian nation.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran spares no efforts to maintain dignity of Syrian nation and government," Larijani added.

He reiterated that many Iranian companies are ready to play significant role in reconstruction of Syria.

The Syrian lawmaker, for his part, said both Iran and Syria have proven that they are harbinger of peace and friendship in the world.

"Our enemies never leave us alone as they have suffered a huge blow in Syria, Iraq and Yemen," he said.

Iran has been offering military advisory support to Syria at the request of the Damascus government, enabling its army to speed up its gains on various fronts against terror outfits.

However, over the past few years, Israel, the closest ally of the US has frequently attacked military targets inside Syria in an attempt to prop up terrorist groups that have been suffering defeats in the battle against Syrian government forces.
