Slaying journo not to affect US-Saudi tiesA Malaysian website released a report by Afro-Middle East Centre (AMEC) and added killing the Saudi journalist has had immediate short-term consequences for the Saudi kingdom, but the consequences will not be long-term.

The AMEC report said though some US congressmen seek to work on the issue, it is the red line for the President of the United States Donald Trump and he will veto any possible action.

According to the website, the cardinal issue is selling billion worth of US-made arms to Saudi Arabia and Trump has announced no change will be made to the deal because Riyadh uses the weapons in Yemen.

The website went on to say a number of congressmen have taken a tough stance against Saudi Arabia, but it is obvious the US president is unwilling to take any action against Riyadh Arabia.

For a variety of reasons, including the huge economic benefits of selling arms to Saudi Arabia and the fact that Riyadh backs anti-Iranian policy in the region, Trump will not allow the case of murdering a Saudi journalist affect Washington-Riyadh relations.

Jamal Khashoggi, the Saudi veteran writer and journalist entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October second to collect paperwork for his forthcoming marriage, but disappeared there.

After 18 days of silence and rejecting claims that Khashoggi was killed, the Saudi government finally bowed down to international pressure on October 20th and claimed in a statement the prominent journalist was killed in a fist-fight inside Istanbul consulate.

All evidence suggests 15 Saudi agents with close ties to the crown prince Mohammed Bin Salman who were deployed to Istanbul are in charge of killing Khashoggi and dismembering his body.

The Turkish government urges the extradition of these people to be brought to justice.
