UNSC Holds Session over Iran's Ballistic Missile LaunchesDuring the session on Tuesday, US Ambassador Nikki Haley called on the UN Security Council to unanimously condemn what she calls "provocative missile test" on Dec. 1, calling it "dangerous and concerning, but not surprising,” AP reported.

Haley accused Iran of deliberately trying "to destabilize the Middle East and defy international norms."

At the meeting, the United States and its allies said the test may have been in violation of Resolution 2231. The session ended with no joint statement.

Resolution 2231 calls upon Iran “not to undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons.”

Senior Iranian officials have repeatedly stressed that Tehran’s missile program is merely defensive in nature, and that the Islamic Republic will never use its ballistic missiles except for self-defense.
