Iran, Turkey FMs Discuss Regional Issues, VenezuelaThe Iranian and Turkish foreign ministers made the phone call on Friday, according to the Turkish-language Anadolu Agency.

They discussed the latest developments in the region and also the situation in Venezuela.

Given the upcoming negotiations between Iran, Russian and Turkey on Syria, the Arab country’s crisis is believed to have been among the topics discussed in the phone call.

The leaders of the Astana trio (Iran, Russia, and Turkey) are planned to meet in Russia in the near future, according to Russian Special Presidential Envoy for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.

Venezuela has plunged into political crisis after Juan Guaido, the leader of the opposition-controlled National Assembly, declared himself interim president on Wednesday.

Shortly after Guaido took an oath swearing himself in before his supporters, US President Donald Trump recognized him as the country's leader. In response, Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro broke off diplomatic ties with the US and gave American diplomats 72 hours to get out of his country.
