Iraq’s Nujaba Rejects US Claim about Iranian Financial Support

TEHRAN (defapress) – Iraq’s al-Nujaba vehemently rejected a recent claim by the chargé d'affaires of the US Mission in Iraq that the group is receiving financial support from Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), saying Washington is seeking to question Nujaba’s sense of nationalism.

Iraq’s Nujaba Rejects US Claim about Iranian Financial SupportAccording to a report by Nujaba's Centre for Relations and Media Affairs in Iran, the Chargé d'affaires of the US in Baghdad, Joey Hood, speaking to an Iraqi TV channel, claimed that the IRGC spends huge amounts of money to support Iraqi Resistance groups, including Nujaba.

In a statement, Nujaba said that the US, by making such false claims, is seeking to provoke the public opinion and question the nationalism of the movement.

Nujaba also emphasized that its links with the IRGC are not financial, deploring comments by some Iraqi politicians who follow the US and its false claims against the Resistance Front and the IRGC.

Nujaba is a resistance group that has played a key role in defeating the Daesh terrorist group in Iraq.

Daesh militants made swift advances in much of northern and western Iraq over the summer of 2014, after capturing large swaths of northern Syria.

However, a combination of concentrated attacks by the Iraqi military and the volunteer forces, who rushed to take arms after top Iraqi cleric Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani issued a fatwa calling for fight against the militants, led to the collapse of Daesh in Iraq.

Iran is known as the first country to help the Arab country and has always voiced support for Iraq’s solidarity and prosperity.
